I have always had a sweet tooth, chocolate is my favorite food. I had to have something sweet everyday. I used to jokingly call myself a chocoholic. A few years ago, I found out I had high cholesterol, very high! My doctor said it was through the roof ! He said he didn’t want me to die of a heart attack. I told him I don’t want to either! I also found out my A1C, my blood sugar average, wasn’t the greatest. I was not pre-diabetic but I was close. I also had a fatty liver, I could feel it pressing against my ribs. That was my wake up call, I realized that I really needed to change my diet and improve my eating habits. Heart problems and diabetes run in my family, I was on that path of becoming a diabetic and or having heart problems from high cholesterol.
I started researching sugar and its affect on the body. I was shocked to discover what my sugar addiction and bad eating habits was doing to my body. I decided I was going to cut down on sugar and eat more healthy. So began my journey of making dietary changes to cut down on sugar and eat more fruits and vegetables and less fat. How my diet changes affected my body was amazing. The weight just started dropping off, I had more energy and less lethargic. My heart burn and other digestive problems went away. Most importantly, I was able to lower my cholesterol to a level that’s not so alarming to my doctor anymore. AND my blood sugar level is in the normal range. Whew! I feel like I dodged a bullet. smile And my fatty liver went away. So this began my new passion for healthy clean eating and living a healthy lifestyle. I decided to start this blog to share my experience and what I learn with others.
